This week I’ve been working on (and finished) a pair of mittens. The pattern is found in Mary Jane Hall’s book, Crochet That Fits. The designs in this book use staggered stitch heights without increases and decreases to achieve the desired shaping.
I love the textured look of the mittens and I wanted a scarf to match. So, with a little inspiration from the mitten pattern, I came up with a very easy scarf. I’m calling it “Scarf in a Jiffy” because I used Lion Brand’s Jiffy yarn and since this is a bulky yarn worked up with a larger hook, it really did work up in a ‘jiffy.’ I am giving this set to my daughter to wear on her way to and from her college classes–she’s a busy girl, always on the go– these will be perfect for bundling up and heading out into the cold weather.
Scarf in a Jiffy
by Sally’s Backyard
This pattern is so easy–it’s a perfect beginner project or even for the more experienced crocheter, it’s nice to have a project to work up quickly once in a while. You can make adjustments to the length, width, hook size, yarn–it’s completely flexible.
Size: approx. 7″ x 60″
Materials:
“K” hook
Bulky yarn–I used Lion Brand’s Jiffy (100% acrylic) 135 yds/skein in Dark Grey Heather (1.5 skeins). The amount of yarn will vary depending on any changes you may make.
