A visit

We just had the nicest visit with my Uncle and his dear lady-friend.  It was a bright spot in my day.  I hadn’t seen them for a while and just to be able to sit and chat was nice. Usually we get together for holidays or family celebrations, but just to sit and talk, is rare.  I have a great deal of respect for the older folks in our family…they’ve been through a lot and seen many things. Experience, wisdom, warmth, putting family first…those are the things I respect and admire.  Those are the things I think we tend to not pay as much attention to as we should.  So, over a cup of coffee and some conversation, those things come to the forefront.  Such a short amount of time out of our daily routine, shared with loved ones, brings so much joy. It reminds us that a visit now and then brings us back around to the things that really matter.
